Statements in Debates
Thank you, Mr. Speaker. Mr. Speaker, your committee has been considering Tabled Document 66-16(5), NWT Capital Estimates 2011-2012, as well as Bill 8, Social Work Profession Act, and Bill 9, An Act to Amend the Tourism Act, and would like to report progress and that Bills 8 and 9 are ready for third reading. Mr. Speaker, I move that the report of Committee of the Whole be concurred with. Mahsi.
Thank you, Mr. Miltenberger. We’re on page 11-9, activity summary, forest management, infrastructure investment summary, total infrastructure investment summary, $1.403 million.
Thank you, Mr. Ramsay. On that, I would ask the Minister responsible for the bill if he would like to bring some witnesses into the House. Mr. McLeod.
Once again, thank you for the statement from earlier today and I look forward to any future statements that are made by Cabinet to help encourage the understanding.
I’m curious, the document is out and as a Regular Member on this side of the House, I’m not scared of the AIP. I think it’s an important document. It’s nine years’ worth of negotiations put into this thing. We’ve come to a point where we have an agreement-in-principle which basically just, if signed, allows us to take the next step and begin the negotiations. So I’m not scared of the document. Let’s talk about it. It has been posted...
Thank you, Minister Miltenberger. We’re on page 3-2, which is the departmental summary for the Department of Finance, infrastructure investment summary, total infrastructure investment summary, $925,000.
Thank you, Mr. Minister, and I would like to thank your witnesses. If I could please get the Sergeant-at-Arms to escort our witnesses from the Chamber.
What is the wish of committee? Mr. Beaulieu.

This is a win-win opportunity, a win for northern artists, but also a win for the Government of the Northwest Territories. To take advantage of this win, I think it’s going to take a partnership between ITI and Education, Culture and Employment, but I only get to ask questions of one Minister so I’m going to ask the Minister of Education, Culture and Employment some questions.
As I said in my statement, there are significant opportunities to displaying...
Thank you, Mr. Speaker. This past September I attended a number of events during NWT Arts Week here in Yellowknife. I have to say there were a lot of great events and a lot of great presentations.
As Northerners, I think we should be proud of the musicians, and the painters, and the authors, and the actors, and the craftspeople, and the carvers of the Northwest Territories. Quite frankly, the quality, and quantity, and diversity of the products that are out there are amazing. It’s simply amazing.
During the last week, a number of working sessions were facilitated by the Aurora Arts Society to...
I move we report progress.

It’s my understanding that Level A is a health station with no nurse. It’s my understanding that a Level B is a community health centre, which does have nurses but is more specific to providing services in that community. It’s my understanding that a Level B-C facility is a regional health and social services centre, which does have regional outreach responsibility to Level A and B communities. It’s my understanding that a Level C is also a regional health and social services centre but with a greater degree of diagnostic capabilities and some additional services, which is, I think, the point...
