Mr. Speaker, we’ll do what we can as a department to fast-track this particular piece of our proposal.
We will, as a department, continue to work with the Department of Health and Social Services and the other parties that are involved with drafting of the proposal. We’ll do what we can as a department to move it expeditiously. Mahsi.
Mr. Speaker, this has been an ongoing issue for a number of years, highlighting the doctors and the lawyers. I believe Mrs. Groenewegen raised that issue on numerous occasions in the past. It has triggered our department and also Health and Social Services to draft up legislation on this particular issue. We are currently establishing a draft proposal to be submitted, and then we will be discussing that further. It is one of the priorities that our department is also working on with the department.
Yes, that is correct. There will be a position there.
Certainly for our Justice Department we can give a breakdown of how these positions are located and where they’re located, the regions versus the headquarters. We will be more than happy to give a breakdown in writing to the Members.

Mahsi, Mr. Chair. I believe that we can certainly provide that information that we have at our disposal.
There won’t be full coverage, but it’s not an everyday occurrence at Corrections. But certainly, that is one area that we did highlight as the Justice Department before we even went to cutting the vacant position. There wasn’t much weekend activity. Mahsi.

Currently we have none at that corrections facility. Mahsi.
Mahsi, Mr. Chair. This particular program, this special projects funding of $265,000, has been utilized to some degree in the communities — for instance, a skidoo trip to another community. But again, there is offset funding from the feds. The National Crime Prevention Centre has funding of $476,000 set aside for NWT projects. So this funding will certainly go towards these initiatives that are before us.
