Thank you, Mr. Speaker. Tomorrow, June 15th, is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day. I would like to thank all Members in the House who are wearing purple for doing that in recognition of tomorrow. Elder abuse is a significant threat to the residents of all of our communities. For many years elder abuse has been a private matter, hidden from view and not talked about. Thanks to a significant public education campaign, elder abuse has become a much more higher profile in our society. It is seen as a national problem needing attention.

Thank you, Mr. Chair. I move that this committee recommends that the Workers’ Safety and Compensation Commission develop and implement a more complete and consolidated quality assurance and control framework for the processing of claims;
And further, that the Workers’ Safety and Compensation Commission establish a process for approving and communicating changes to its claims processing procedures and standards;
And further, that the Workers’ Safety and Compensation Commission report in detail on its actions in this area to the Legislative Assembly by the end of fiscal year 2012-13.

Thank you, Mr. Chairman. I move that this committee recommends that the Premier and Department of Executive review the February 2012 Status Report of the Auditor General of Canada;
And further, that the Premier and Department of Executive coordinate the government’s response;
And further, that the Premier and Department of Executive propose solutions to overcome the three government-wide barriers to effective program management identified by the Auditor General.

Thank you, Madam Chair. I just want to emphasize that this motion speaks to the issues that I’ve raised in my two previous comments. Since 2008, the government has not officially responded to recommendations in the Information and Privacy Commissioner’s report. The committee certainly felt, and I support as well, that any report from a statutory officer ought to be viewed by the government, reviewed by the government, and any recommendations in that report from the Information and Privacy Commissioner or any statutory officer, ought to be looked at by the government with a view to improving...
