Rules of the Public Gallery

Welcome to the Public Gallery of the Northwest

Territories Legislative Assembly. Visitors are encouraged to view the live house proceedings from the gallery, however, please keep in mind that the following actions or items are not allowed at any time:

  • Cheering
  • Applauding
  • Loud Talking/Noises
  • Hats
  • Food
  • Drinks
  • Backpacks
  • Duffel bags
  • Luggage
  • Large Packages
  • Protesting of any kind

Our Sessional Page will be happy to check any items, including large over/winter coats.

These rules include, but are not limited to, the preceding items. The Speaker reserves the right to have persons removed for actions that they may deem disrespectful or detrimental to the Members, proceedings or decorum of the House. Violation of these rules may result in removal and/or prohibition from the gallery. When the House is in Session, Cameras and cell phones are prohibited from the public gallery at this time. 

Your entrance to the Public Gallery signifies your agreement and understanding of these rules.

If you are with the Media and wish to take photos, please notify Public Affairs and Communications 24 hours in advance by emailing @email with your request. You must check in with security before proceeding to the Public Gallery.
