Integrity Commissioner Dismisses Complaint Regarding MLA for Great Slave

YELLOWKNIFE (Friday, September 15, 2023) -- The Northwest Territories Legislative Assembly Integrity Commissioner, Mr. David Phillip Jones, Q.C. has investigated and dismissed a complaint lodged against the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Great Slave, Katrina Nokleby.

The Integrity Commissioner received a complaint from the Hon. Shane Thompson, MLA for Nahendeh alleging that certain emails and social media posts by Ms. Katrina Nokleby, MLA for Great Slave, breached the Members’ Code of Conduct (the “Code”). This launched an investigation by the Integrity Commissioner that resulted in a dismissal of the MLA for Nahendeh’s complaint.

As stated in the Legislative Assembly and Executive Council Act, the Integrity Commissioner is mandated to compile a report outlining the details of his investigation. The Act requires the report to be presented to the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, the Members of the Legislative Assembly, and the public upon completion. As the Legislature will not sit until September 27, 2023, the Speaker has made the report public by way of news release (Attachment A).  As required by the Act, the report will be tabled on the first day of the next sitting of the Legislative Assembly.
