Public Briefing on Bill 85: United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Implementation Act

The Standing Committee on Government Operations, chaired by Rylund Johnson, will receive a public briefing regarding Bill 85: United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Implementation Act from the Honourable Premier Caroline Cochrane on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at 2:00PM in the Eagle Room of the Legislative Assembly building.

The primary goals of Bill 85 are to affirm the Declaration as a universal human rights instrument with application to the laws of the Northwest Territories and to provide a framework for the Government to work with Indigenous Governments and Organizations to determine how the Declaration will be implemented.
