(YELLOWKNIFE) Wednesday, March 4, 2026 – 2025-26 Electoral Boundaries Commission Final Report

On Friday February 27, 2026, the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, the Hon. Shane Thompson, tabled the 2025-26 Electoral Boundaries Commission Final Report, as presented by the Electoral Boundaries Commission.

In accordance with the Electoral Boundaries Commission Act, the electoral boundaries Commission was required to be established within two years of the 2023 general election. The Commission, established in May 2025, is composed of the following five members, appointed by the Commissioner of the Northwest Territories on the recommendation of the Legislative Assembly:

•    The Honourable Judge R.D. Gorin (Chairperson), Yellowknife

•    Mr. Daryl Dolynny, Yellowknife

•    Mr. Sam Dyck, Inuvik

•    Mr. Kevin O’Reilly, Yellowknife

•    Ms. Georgina Rolt, Yellowknife

The Commission was mandated to review the area, boundaries, names, and representation of the Northwest Territories’ electoral districts, using the most current population and census data. The Final Report puts forward options and recommendations for the Legislative Assembly’s consideration. These options include district models formulating 19, 20, 21 or 22 ridings in the NWT. The Assembly will consider and vote on the report’s recommendations in the House later this year.
