(YELLOWKNIFE) Friday, June 13, 2025 – The Northwest Territories Legislative Assembly has officially established the Electoral Boundaries Commission, 2025 in accordance with the Electoral Boundaries Commission Act.
The Commission is mandated to review the area, boundaries, names, and representation of the Northwest Territories’ electoral districts, using the most current population and census data. Following this review, the Commission will deliver a final report containing recommendations for electoral district boundaries and representation across the territory.
The Commission is composed of the following five members, appointed by the Commissioner of the Northwest Territories on the recommendation of the Legislative Assembly:
• The Honourable Judge R.D. Gorin (Chairperson), Yellowknife
• Mr. Daryl Dolynny, Yellowknife
• Mr. Sam Dyck, Inuvik
• Mr. Kevin O’Reilly, Yellowknife
• Ms. Georgina Rolt, Yellowknife
The Commission’s work will be supported by Chief Electoral Officer Stephen Dunbar, who has been appointed Secretary to the Commission.
The Commission will engage the public through an interim report and public hearings, and will also provide accessible channels for public feedback, including a dedicated website. The Commission must submit its final report, in both English and French, to the Speaker and Clerk of the Legislative Assembly no later than nine months after being established.
