Statements in Debates
Thank you, Mr. Speaker. And thanks to the Premier for that reply. Yes, I can understand the Indigenous government participation. Over 60 percent, Mr. Speaker, of our territory is underneath a modern treaty society.
My second question is Indigenous government support is critical to our advocacy and engagement efforts in Ottawa. Could the Premier describe the approach to include governments in the federal engagement and how the envoy position will support these efforts? Thank you, Mr. Speaker.
Thank you, Mr. Speaker. Education promotion, Mr. Speaker. Labour trades, professions, the shortages continue in all sectors is a huge concern clear across our Canadian country. However, closer to home, the geography, costs of living, the isolated inventory greatly adds to attracting staff in neither the private nor public services sector. Mr. Speaker, trade shortages, we are at the pivotal point drafting and essential planning in addressing the situation as fundamental and critical to our approach and the remaining term of this Assembly.
Yes, Mr. Speaker, we have tools in our toolbox. Examples...
Thank you, Mr. Speaker. I'm very glad for the continuous good news here. It's going to be an enjoyable weekend.
Will the Minister show Ottawa how critical this road is to connect the people of the Sahtu to the rest of Canada? Thank you.
Thank you, Mr. Speaker. Following up on my statement, my questions is to the Minister responsible for Strategic Infrastructure, Energy, and Supply Chains.
My first question there, Mr. Speaker, what work is the GNWT doing so that this project, or the Mackenzie Valley Highway, is ready to be one of the projects the federal government is describing as a nation building project? Thank you, Mr. Speaker.
Thank you, Mr. Speaker, and thanks to the Minister for that information update. I can see our -- my constituents are getting very happy. I see the smiles.
My next question is will the GNWT work with the communities of the Sahtu so that they are ready for this project? Mahsi.
Thank you, Mr. Speaker. Low water solutions. Mr. Speaker, there is no better time than the present for us to work together with the federal government to realize the dream that is fully completing the Mackenzie Valley Highway, or MVH. Mr. Speaker, becoming a reality, the MVH campaign plan will involve the federal engagements with our Member of Parliament, Cabinet Minister, GNWT envoy to Ottawa, and Sahtu Secretariat Incorporated MOU arrangement. This next step is overwhelming and, more importantly, extremely encouraging.
Mr. Speaker, we are in the infancy of a new federal Liberal government...
Thank you, Mr. Speaker. I, too, will be supporting this motion. What I've heard these past several months, several weeks, is healthcare reform, efficiencies, and with the passionate leadership we have I'm confident that this motion will only add to the list of efficiencies as a check box, and with four departments in deliberations, including Dexterra, I'm quite confident that the department will harness the leadership together to execute this motion, which I feel confident strengthens our move forward to rehab our system.
When I recently visit the hospital here and when I recently visit the...
Thank you, Minister. Does committee agree?
Thank you, committee. Total department, not previously authorized, $3,381,000. Are there any questions?
Seeing none, Supplementary Estimates (Infrastructure Expenditures) No. 1, 2025-2026. Department of Finance, capital investments expenditures, total department, not previously authorized, $3,381,000. Does committee agree?
Thank you, Mr. Speaker. Mr. Speaker, your committee has been considering Tabled Documents 340-20(1) and 341-20(1) and would like to report progress with one motion carried, that consideration of Tabled Document 341-20(1) is concluded and that the House concur with those estimates and that an appropriation bill will be based thereon to be introduced without delay. And, Mr. Speaker, I move that the report of the Committee of the Whole be concurred with. Mahsi.
