Monday, August 28, 2023 – The Honourable Frederick Blake Jr., the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, has concluded the second sitting, and the second session stands adjourned until October 12, 2023 or sooner at the call of the Speaker of the 19th Assembly.
- Bill 97 has passed to postpone the polling day to November 14, 2023. The planning and logistics required to run an election are significant, and in the current circumstances, we would not be in a position to safely proceed on September 4. Members can now use this time to help their constituents and communities affected by the evacuations.
- A supplementary appropriation to authorize additional funds for wildfire response was also approved.
- Bill 98 has been referred to Committee.
When it is safe to do so, the Speaker will recall the 19th Assembly in Yellowknife.
