Not too long ago, she and I spoke after a long day and talked a lot about elders and folks with disability, and so I do also want to tie this back to my statement earlier this week that certain issues that no longer have Ministers responsible for that portfolio, one being seniors and elders and the other being disability, are issues we still need to really drill down into, Mr. Speaker, and I really appreciate the Member for Monfwi for being that tireless advocate.

INTRODUCTION

In accordance with subsection 266(2) of the Elections and Plebiscites Act (“the Act” or “EPA”), the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) must submit a report on the administration of territorial elections within six months of polling day. These reports outline key operational developments and challenges, identify matters the CEO considers important to bring to the attention of the Legislative Assembly, and provide recommendations to strengthen election administration and, where appropriate, amend the Act.

With the same whole-of-government lens, then, can the Premier confirm whether the Assembly could anticipate a renewal or a re-imagining of the said NWT disability strategic framework or any future disability action plans that look at the whole-of-government lens? Today I want to echo the comments of my colleague from Frame Lake from earlier in this sitting, that the government needs better pathfinding supports for our residents with disabilities. There are numerous supports that exist in social envelope departments but without taking up my allotted time to list them all, I know I could effectively argue that considerations for folks with disabilities touches on every Minister in each portfolio, as well as statutory officer responsibilities.
