My Member's statement today I talked about the struggle parents are going through and, you know, while I had a modicum of energy the other night, I was perusing the Education Act. Why? Because, well, I couldn't even answer that. But that said -- but I had the energy. When I have parents telling me that their children have finally been diagnosed at their individual costs, whether it's for dyslexia, dyscalculia, or even expression or receptive problems with language and delays, they wonder where the education system is --

Now therefore I move, seconded by the Member for Range Lake, that the Executive Council of the Government of the Northwest Territories name the new 50-unit affordable housing complex on 50th Street in Yellowknife the Anthony (Tony) WJ Whitford Building;

And furthermore, that the Government of the Northwest Territories respond to this motion in 120 days.

Now, I understand that Avens provides long-term care supports similarly and as a partner for the overall solution, so I'm getting towards the next part of the question, which is I believe they provide approximately 59 beds, Mr. Speaker. And that partnership is so important.

With the changes that are coming in long-term care, does the department of health, NTHSSA, plan to continue and foster its decades long important relationship as a pillar of health care in this community? Thank you.

Thank you, Mr. Speaker. Today I want to talk about some health care innovation and certainly some opportunities that will save this government and our territory a lot of real -- some real tangible dollars, Mr. Speaker. It's about service improvement.

All that was for the crescendo here is, where the question's going ultimately, is that the Minister's aware and many of the Members, of course, is the federal government and the territorial government have some increased long-term obligations, and there's some requirements for these obligations that are going forward. Mr. Speaker, the first question for the Minister is is she aware of the number of beds and how many are vacant at the Stanton Legacy Hospital, the Liwego'ati, currently? Thank you.

In my Member's statement, I talked about the way we could improve our health care security as well as potentially cost and credibility in the sense of making sure Northerners are using health care and those who certainly deserve it or qualify for it.

Mr. Speaker, it recently came up on my Facebook about places that have talked about the closure of the diamond mine, and there's one scheduled -- there's a public discussion scheduled in a few weeks here about the impacts on the community. And, Mr. Speaker, it kind of makes you wonder about how many jobs are going to be lost in this process because we have, as potentially scheduled, Ekati at 2027, Diavik at 2026, and I think Gahcho Kue is in early 2030. So, Mr. Speaker, my question for the Minister of ITI is how many potential jobs will be lost through this process that...

If someone went out on the Ingraham Trail and built a permanent structure, and one example I'll give is the tree house tower of some sort, out of building material and other types of things -- who knows what it's made out of; it doesn't look safe -- the Department of ECC would be instructing that that had to be cleaned up, torn down, etcetera. So why are these structures being allowed on Commissioner's land because they're downtown Yellowknife but if it was on the Ingraham Trail, they'd be posting an order to clean up?
