Thank you, Mr. Speaker. Mr. Speaker, following up on my Member's statement earlier, and realizing the comments made to the replies to the budget, my first request to the Minister of strategic infrastructure, when will the Minister submit phase two environmental assessment conclusion request on a timeline? Mahsi.
Thank you, Mr. Speaker. I'm glad to hear that we're realizing the value of the old 2013 data.
My next question there, Mr. Speaker, with the federal budget 2025 announcement this past November, can the Minister commit to providing PKFN and GTC with project SEED money from the avenues available? Thank you.
Thank you, Mr. Speaker. Yesterday I spoke about the urgent need for the Mackenzie Valley Highway and the economic crisis facing the Sahtu and regions along the right of way. Today I want to speak about accountability, accountability to the mandate we committed to in this Assembly, and accountability to project campaign initiatives towards our federal colleagues.
The mandate of the 20th Assembly is clear. One of the core priorities is building a strong economic foundation. Within that priority, we committed to leveraging federal funding to close the infrastructure gap through investments in...
Thank you, Mr. Speaker. We're making progress. We have targets and deadlines so we can achieve our accomplishment.
My third question there, Mr. Speaker, is when will the Minister arrange for a joint Indigenous governments group to engage in campaign engagement meetings with our federal counterparts on that specific project? Mahsi.
Thank you, Mr. Speaker, and thanks to my previous colleague on highlighting the Mackenzie Valley Highway.
Further to my Member's statement, it's got to be recognized that I sent out a briefing here earlier to this question. My first question to the Minister of strategic infrastructure: Will the Minister support and endorse the Gwich'in Tribal Council and the Sahtu Secretariat Land Claims chapter 20 and 21 with the federal government which addresses access for Armed Forces division providing the capacity is there. Mahsi.
Thank you, Mr. Speaker. And thanks to the Minister for that reply. And I encourage others to familiarize themselves with more specifically the Sahtu chapter 21.3.2, which really addresses a procurement process to secure that capital project. Mahsi.
My next question to the Minister is when will the Minister of strategic infrastructure submit the completed Ernst & Young business case for phase one of the Mackenzie Valley Highway. Mahsi.
Thank you, Mr. Speaker. Welcome back, colleagues. Norman Wells' oilfield closure, another nail in our NWT coffin on the economic side:
Mr. Speaker, I rise today to speak about the matter of profound urgency for my home community and the entire Sahtu region, a matter that strikes at the very core of our economic survival and our ability to exercise true sovereignty in Canada's North.
Last week, our Premier, Mr. Simpson, appeared before Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development. His message was clear, Mr. Speaker: Sovereignty is not merely claimed through words. It is...
Thank you, Mr. Speaker. I too would like to recognize Michael Nadli. I had the pleasure of working alongside him during the 18th Assembly and also recognizing our pages and the endless services they provide. Have a good weekend. And our translation department, may you all enjoy the weekend. Mahsi.
Thank you, Mr. Speaker. Mr. Speaker, as we gather here for our last session day for 2025, the federal government is preparing its upcoming budget address, fall economic statement, and second nation-building announcements. Our future concerns me there, Mr. Speaker, past disasters, and the future uncertainty.
Mr. Speaker, there's positive solutions. For example, for infrastructure deficit we can recruit EPCM for project execution.
Mr. Speaker, our fiscal position grows more dire by the quarter, and yet our nation-building projects that could secure our economic future, the critical infrastructure...
Thank you. Thank you, Mr. Speaker. We initiated the 20th Assembly with a focus on restoring fiscal balance. That was our directive, to basically and simply straighten out and strengthen our fiscal position. Our outside support, really, to some degree, in a large degree, dictates the balances and the strength of your finances because of the simple fact that we can't raise anything, we don't manufacture anything. You might make some eggs and some fuel tanks, but outside of that you're solely dependent on the third party formula funding that's coming in.
Then we moved on and addressed the...
